Bendigo Business Council delighted with level of interest in Board positions.

The Bendigo Business Council is delighted with the level of interest in vacancies for its Board of Directors, with 15 candidates nominating for ten directors' positions.

BBC Executive Officer Kevin de Vries said today that he was very pleased with the number and the calibre of candidates for the Board, "It's terrific that there has been so much interest in the directors' vacancies, and that so many leaders in the Bendigo business community have raised their hand for a Board position. This is a reflection of the growing relevance and effectiveness of the Bendigo Business Council, the health of the Bendigo business community and the desire for strong business leadership, advocacy and representation in our growing city."

"The candidates for the Board represent some of Bendigo's most notable business figures, from across a broad range of industries and representing businesses of all sizes.  As the number of nominations exceeds the number of vacancies, the BBC will now conduct a postal ballot of its members." Mr de Vries said.

When the Central Victorian Business Network and the Bendigo Chamber of Commerce and Industry were brought together in June 2008 an interim board was established to sit until the 2009 Annual General Meeting.

The successful candidates will be announced at the Bendigo Business Council AGM on Thursday 22 October.
